VIVA IN KENYA
Art project
2019
The Viva la Vida global art project originated as a social experiment in creating life portraits. We invited the audience to express their own life experiences through painting, using life portraits to reveal their inner worlds and convey vitality. The project was reported on by the United Nations and the United Nations Refugee Agency.
As an independent artist, I organized a Viva la Vida event in the Mathare slum in Kenya, Africa. In the participants’ paintings, I saw a vibrant sense of possibility and brought the power of art to the community.
